The European Union has adopted the European Directives MiFID I and MiFID II (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive) as well as the MiFIR Regulation (Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation), thus, defining the MiFID II Regulatory Framework which aims to enhance the healthy functioning of financial markets in Europe.
