Fraudulent Emails and SMS Messages (Phishing Campaigns)
Cybercriminals send deceptive emails and SMS messages posing as the recipient’s bank. These messages typically claim that there has been “suspicious activity” on the recipient’s account or card, or that the account or card has been “blocked or deactivated.”
They include a link and urge the recipient to click it immediately and follow the instructions to resolve the alleged issue.
However, the link leads to a fake website that closely mimics the official site of the recipient’s bank. Unaware of the deception, recipients may enter their e-Banking credentials, credit card information, or even approve unauthorized transactions.
